Ride the Wave: Embracing Change with the Trinity
Let’s be honest—change is weird. It’s that awkward feeling of going to the grocery store and discovering they’ve rearranged every aisle like it’s a psychological experiment. You stand there, clutching quinoa, questioning your entire identity.
We all know that feeling. Whether it’s a new job, a loss, a move, or even just another birthday, change knocks on the door of our comfort zone... and kicks it open.
But here’s the good news: God isn’t afraid of change—and neither do we have to be. In fact, when we look at change through the lens of the Trinity—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—we discover it can be a powerful force for growth, renewal, and deeper intimacy with God.
1. God the Father: The Calm in the Chaos
“The earth was formless and empty, and darkness covered the deep waters. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the surface of the waters.”
— Genesis 1:2, NLT
Before creation took shape, everything was a swirling mess. And what was God doing? Hovering. Not panicking. Not scrambling. Hovering.
That chaos you’re facing right now? It’s not too much for Him. The Father isn’t shocked by your season of change—He wrote it into the story.
Analogy: Think of a GPS. When you miss a turn, it doesn’t scream at you—it calmly says, “Recalculating.” That’s God the Father. Always patient. Always guiding.
2. Jesus the Son: The Model of Transformative Change
“The Word became flesh and blood, and moved into the neighborhood.”
— John 1:14, The Message
Jesus literally changed everything. Eternal Creator became crying baby. Heaven’s glory entered a dusty manger. Talk about a radical transition.
“Jesus, the Anointed One, is always the same—yesterday, today, and forever.”
— Hebrews 13:8, TPT
Jesus doesn’t change in character, but He constantly changes us through relationship.
Analogy: Jesus is like a moving walkway at the airport. Even when you’re standing still, if you’re on it—you’re still going forward.
3. The Holy Spirit: Your Companion Through Every Shift
“When the Spirit of truth comes, He will guide you into all truth.”
— John 16:13, NLT
“The Holy Spirit takes hold of us in our human frailty to empower us in our weakness.”
— Romans 8:26, TPT
The Holy Spirit doesn’t just help you endure change—He empowers you to thrive in it. He brings strength, peace, and direction.
Analogy: The Holy Spirit is like Wi-Fi. You don’t always see Him working, but if you’re connected, everything flows.
4. Embracing Change with Trinitarian Confidence
“For everything there is a season, a time for every activity under heaven.”
— Ecclesiastes 3:1, NLT
Change isn’t a glitch in God’s plan—it is the plan. The Trinity doesn’t just survive change—they model how to move through it in unity:
- The Father designed your transition.
- The Son walks it with you.
- The Spirit empowers you in it.
You were made to adapt. Your spiritual DNA includes divine flexibility.
Practical Tools for Riding the Wave
- Pray Trinitarian Prayers: Father, give me wisdom. Jesus, thank You for walking with me. Holy Spirit, guide and strengthen me today.
- Write a “Change Testimony”: Reflect on a past season. What did God do? How did you grow?
- Laugh Along the Way: Even God laughs (see Psalm 2:4). Humor is holy too.
A Declaration to Speak Over Your Life
“Change isn’t my enemy—it’s my invitation.
I am loved by the Father.
Guided by the Son.
Empowered by the Spirit.
I will not fear change—I will ride the wave of what God is doing!”
Change is never easy—but it’s sacred ground.
And when we embrace it through the love of the Trinity, we don’t just survive… we transform.
